Born in 1979, I started piano lessons when I was eight and never thought I would pursue them.  On starting secondary school at Newport Free Grammar School I began learning the saxophone with Kath Taylor.  I am very grateful for the musical opportunities that were available and aged 13, I auditioned and accepted a place at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama to study with Andrew Tweed.   In the same year I was awarded a bursary to support my education.  I continued exploiting the musical opportunites availble, playing in the Essex Youth Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Martin Hathaway and started a long-term collaboration with pianist Christopher Weston, forming Jazzetude, a saxophone/piano duo.

I went to Salford University in 1999 to study Music Technology, but after a year decided this was not an area I wished to pursue.  I continued to have lessons with Malcolm Miles throughout my degree and graduated in 2002.

Since 2002, I have worked in music education and have experience at all levels, on  a one to one basis and large group training (e.g. Leading orchestral rehearsals, workshops etc). In addition to self employed teaching contracts I work for Essex Music Services and since January 2008 I have been Teacher-in-Charge of Chelmsford Area Music Schools.

I have undertaken session work and recorded for numerous bands and artists in varying genres from Van Morrison through to working with producers of 50’s Rock n Roll, to recording ‘squeely’ sax samples/solos for more dance and Hed Kandi style musical applications.

I also continue to offer private tuition, for more information please CONTACT me.
